What we publish
Artistic stories, essays, and poetry that grapples with difficult and complex subjects, featuring nuanced and complicated characters, and written with skill and intention to keep us captive in suspended disbelief.
Our reading tastes include Roberto Bolaño, J.M. Coetzee, Bernadine Evaristo, Han Kang, and Margaret Atwood. Send us work that you are proud of, and we will treat it with respect.
How to submit
All stories should be submitted via our submissions portal. If you are unable to access the portal, you can email your manuscript and your cover letter to dominiquelitmag@gmail.com.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Re-published work is also welcome. By submitting to us you agree that you have permission to re-publish your work.
Publication and rights requested
We aim to read each submission as soon as possible, and will send a decision within one month. If you have not heard back from us after one month, please write an inquiry email addressed “Dear Editors,” with the subject line, “Inquiry: [Your story title]” to dominiquelitmag@gmail.com .
We publish work ranging between 100 words and 20,000 words, though these limits are negotiable. Please query us before submitting anything outside that range. We do not currently publish novellas or full length novels.
We are not a paying market, so all we ask is that if you republish your work, please list us as the original publication. We welcome reprints previously published in other venues, as well as simultaneous submissions.
Manuscript formatting and cover letter
Manuscripts should be double-spaced with size-12 Times New Roman font. Page numbers, word count, and author name are all optional as long as they do not impede reading. Variations on this format should be explained in the cover letter.
If you are unsure of what to put in a cover letter, address it as “Dear Editors,” and then give a one sentence introduction to the story. Include the title, the word count, and any relevant information that you think would be necessary to understanding it, such as genre, any important allusions, content warnings. etc.
Additionally, please include a short, third person bio in your cover letter. Your bio should summarize in a single phrase who you are as a writer, list any prior publications, and end with links to any social media or websites you would like to display.
